*Hey everyone this is my 3rd interview entry in this series I created where I gain insight from other poets in the WordPress community. This time around I spoke with Sylvester L.Anderson and we talked about his favorite styles of poetry, his opinions on publication, and the positivity he expresses through his everyday writing. It was pleasure to learn more about him and I look forward to reading more of his uplifting poetry. If you have not checked out any of his work, then you’re missing out on poetry that will make a moment of your day. Also check him out on Twitter at @SylvesterPoetry for more. Peace
Q: What inspired you to start blogging, and when did you begin it?
Sylvester: I started blogging in 2010 and what inspired me was that I wanted to sharpen my poetry skills as I was preparing to publish my first poetry collection.
Q: What is your writing process like, do you hand write or type a draft?
Sylvester: I use to hand write a lot and still do on occasion. Now I think of a theme and type. If I am unable to finish I save a draft and come back to it later.
Q: How would describe the current state of poetry and should schools emphasize creative writing and poetry in English curriculum’s?
Sylvester: The current state of poetry has a heartbeat but I would like to see poetry get more exposure. Schools should emphasize creative writing in English curriculum’s. We need to cultivate that talent and creativity.
