Living for better days (Wednesday Wisdom + Commentrary)

Welcome readers,

We’re living through peculiar times due to this COVID19 Pandemic and we’re unsure if and when we’ll return to living our everyday lives without any hassles. With that said, once the pandemic hit we were in lockdown and people had everything they were working towards become halted and for some stagnated, but one of the serious issues that arose from the lockdown were increases in domestic violence, suicides, depression and so forth. And this can happen again in vast amounts if certain states mandate another lockdown to quarantine. I remember seeing a video of a white woman on camera talking to who I assumed to be her friend give hand signal as a warning sign and cry for help because she was being abused. Her friend after seeing that hand signal was well aware of the situation she was going through and her facial expression signified that. She went from a half-smile due to being excited to seeing her friend to a worried looked. I’ll post the video at the bottom of this post so you can see it in action, and from my understanding, this is a PSA and I don’t know if the woman is in distress is a paid actress or an actual victim of domestic violence but the message the video is sending is imperative nonetheless.

Life always comes with different shades; it is not always blissful and beautiful. Even before the pandemic, we’ve always had to endure challenges in our daily lives and they never stop coming, the only changes are its new difficulties; they are made be overcome and make us stronger and wiser. The year isn’t even over and we’ve had to endure many challenges, more than any we had to in the past decade and some have found living with melancholia has diminished their motivation to see better days and it’s unfortunate they reached their breaking point and the outcome ended with their lives being taken by themselves. This year has been a major setback and some have deemed it a failure, but failure shows us many different ways of trying out things. In other words, it lets us think about the unimaginable and makes us work out of our comfort zones to make a difference. We’re always closer to success than we believe we are, and a little step can do wonders if you remain persistent.

Africa Day 2020

Welcome readers,

I’m sure every American is aware today is Memorial Day which is an important day to honor the American soldiers that served and died for this country, but today is also a day some people might not be aware of and that’s Africa Day. Africa Day is an annual celebratory day where Africans, people of the African Diaspora (Caribbeans and African Americans) celebrate and acknowledge the successes of the Organisation of African Unity (OAU now the AU) from its creation on May 25, 1963, in the fight against colonialism and apartheid, as well as the progress that Africa has made. On the other hand, people of African descent reflect on the daily challenges the continent is going through, what it has gone through, and how to move forward when outside forces always try to invade and divide the unity of the Africans. This all eventually will help people of African descent and Africans to help improve the future of Africans case in point singer Akon who is Senegalese has a project called “Akon Lighting Africa”. This project provides solar energy and electricity in Africa. As a Somali American I am glad to know my culture and appreciate and also acknowledge my fellow African brothers and sisters wherever they are in the world. So if you’re a person of African descent no matter where you are in the world and appreciate the contributions African people have done and given to the world, then drop a comment and give this post a like. COVID – 19 (Its impact thus far)

  • Hello reader, this post will be regarding the pandemic Corona Virus outbreak and the results thus far. If you could be please copy and paste the link below and the numbers this person is showing in the video has and will continuously be changing but it’s the last of the three categories of impact that needs to be addressed.
  • I also wrote a small poem after leaving an Open Mic and like all art it’s up for interpretation.

COVID – 19 better know as Coronavirus has been spreading rapidly and a vaccine is in the works so they claim and a cure is far from being created. From China to Italy to now the U.S. and more nations this relentless disease has caused people to panic and fear the worst and that’s evident with school classes and even semester canceled and on stand by, Sports leagues canceling seasons, events and business canceling activities, and more. Not to mention it’s difficult to come by hand sanitizer and believe me I did my best to find some to no avail but the strange thing I didn’t understand was the excessive hoarding of toilet paper and then it dawned on that people as I said before were preparing for the worst as if The Walking Dead or apocalyptic times were upon us. From my perspective am I scared? No. Am I concerned about my health and what can happen next? Yes. We’ll all have to take precautions and continue washing our hands and not touching our faces after we touch surfaces that could have contaminates, and lastly limiting the exposure to ourselves where there is a crowd of people around us that we presume to be sick.

  • As of today these are the results and the impact of the corona virus.

Total infections – 141,398 people have been confirmed to be infected. This includes suspected cases.

Total Deaths – 5,371 deaths have been confirmed

Total Recovered – 70,654 people have successfully recovered from the virus. However, it is stated that this figure might be highly inaccurate and it is subject to removal. I’m not too sure why these numbers would be subject to removal when people are in a state of panic and need optimism so their lives can return to normal. You can prove me wrong in the comment sections but from my perspective I feel that the U.S. government incorporated yes I said incorporated only wants people to focus on the two parts of information with this virus (Infections and Deaths) and this will thus allow them to influence people to act irrationally and selfishly (hoarding items) for “survival”. In closing these figures are as of current but will continue to increase and all we can do now is be mindful of others and ourselves until this situation has a solution. Take some deep breaths, meditate and do your best to practice mindfulness in whatever way you feel comfortable to eliminate the fear, because if not the fear will only diminish the strength of your immune system. Stay safe out there.

H1NL, Y2K, Swine Flu, the list goes on with viruses

and scares that put everywhere on the edge of the seats.

They hoped they’d still be able to feel their asses on the seats surface

and then realized that even though some have fallen the rest remain still able to feel their seats.
