Habitats destroyed
Irate flames forgotten fast
Awaiting for air
- If you’re not privy to this … The Amazon rain forest is burning at an insane rate. The Amazon not only produces much of the Earth’s cultural and biological diversity, but is a vital source of oxygen and carbon dioxide production and balance. Additionally, it also has a role with the water cycle. With the Amazon burning for weeks now, the lack of media coverage is disturbing when the one most important ecosystem is on the verge of extinction. I’m not trying to down play any disasters that have occurred but I do recall the Notre Dame fire back in April getting immediate and extensive media coverage, but when the Earth’s lungs are on fire that should be a high cause for concern. If it wasn’t for social media I wouldn’t have known about this catastrophe, and that’s sad that something like Miley Cyrus marriage split is the top trending news stories on Twitter. Anyways I want to leave a quote below this excerpt to put everything I’ve said thus far into perspective. Thank you for reading.
