As we’re nearing the end of the year I want to present a list of my top ten films of the 2019. The imperative word in that sentence is my because art is subjective and what I find enjoyment in and find interesting might be different from you or someone else. Furthermore, as an person who now critics films as a hobby I always find it fascinating to step back after a film and not only perceive the film for what it represented but how it made me feel when it comes to the characters, story-lines, setting, etc… Ever since I was kid, I would wake up on weekend mornings and since I didn’t have cable again until I entered high school I would watch The Three Stooges, Phantom Gourmet, but the one the captivated my interest the most was watching the late Roger Ebert critic films on the show he co hosted with Richard Roeper. He previously did it with the late Eugene Siskel. Even though I would watch those other mentioned shows I would always look forward to seeing their perspectives on a film I might have watched. With their famous two thumps for great films, side ways for average and thumbs down for awful films, it was a straightforward assessment on films which I always found interesting. Anyways I don’t want to take any more of your time reading this so I’m going right into my list of my top ten films of 2019. I hope to close the year out with two more film reviews and we’ll be onto the next year with more extraordinary films to enjoy.
- This list will also include two words I can associate with the films. Every movie on this list represents a genre (i.e. Action, Drama, Psychological horror etc…)
- Us : Creepy, Cerebral
- John Wick 3 Parabellum: Dangerous, Deadly
- The Irishman: Mafioso, Infamy
- Joker: Destructive, Comical
- When they see us (Even though it’s credited as a mini series I still consider it a film if you combine all four segments of the episodes. Powerful, Insightful
- Avengers Endgame: Epic, Heroic
- Dolomite is my name: Throwback, Legendary
- Uncut gems: I haven’t seen this film yet but the praise it’s gotten so far, my excitement for it and the captivating trailer is worthy of being a top film of the year candidate in my opinion. : Exciting, Mischievous
- El Camino – Redemptive, Closure
- 21 Bridges – Thrilling, Rapid
Thank you for the list and reviews. Peace
