  • The Myth of Sisyphus explains that there are three consequences of the absurd: revolt, freedom, and passion. I had decided to include these consequences of absurdism in this free verse because I want to introduce these concepts to the reader in an artistic way. Furthermore, I’m currently writing my drafts for a full-length book analysis/review on “The Myth of Sisyphus. That being said, that publication will explain those concepts in depth.

Real Free Flowing Words presents: Art as a Lifeline: When Suffering Becomes a Gateway to Truth and Freedom

6 PM Publications

I once heard a man say, and I quote,

“Pain unarticulated transmutes into suffering.”

And I agree with that profound statement

However, allow me to retort and squeeze all the pulp out of fiction like Julius.

What if I told you, as absurd as it may sound

That you can benefit from suffering

And earn that realization to clarity

Complicated circumstances leave you shaken

And answers are too cumbersome to accept

Meanwhile, you start your day waging psychological warfare on yourself

An attack on anonymity sounds like a riveting title

So, that’s the agenda for today

But what happens when boredom strikes, and I can no longer avoid or numb my setbacks?

Should I capitulate to the melancholy as I sit on the edge of my cold, black satin-covered bed?

And convince myself that I’m worth it

The next challenge presents a huge decision for me

Contemplating whether I dare to revolt against the absurd

Many have not, and that’s why they call hotlines

For that one empathetic and compassionate lifeline

They can confide in them without judgements

Every direction we take preserves our progress

Some make it through their adversities

And remain defiant against self-defeat

Now, all that’s left is for them to prioritize ways to improve

Meanwhile, others are on the losing end of their battle

However, there is always an opportunity for vindication as long as you’re breathing

Relentlessly go after healing

Become faithful to the pursuit of truth and freedom

Past failures, ever so dormant

Still linger and emerge whenever someone reminds me

That there is unfinished business

Watch out for external pressures that leave you open to being broken

Our passions are susceptible to being poisoned

If we share it with the wrong person

So I will leave you with this…

Let’s focus on creating meaningful art.

That encourages deep, enriching discussions.

And delivers satisfaction, wonder, delight, and inspiration

Let’s go back to the start

I once heard a man say,

“Pain unarticulated transmutes into suffering.”

And to that I say,

“Pain articulated can manifest into profound discoveries.”

Dedicate yourself to achieving the strength that could help the next person struggling.

There are no guarantees

But I want the end to be

A harmony of excitement that emerges when thoughts and feelings blend

  1. Wow! This poem is the perfect antidote for the holiday blues, thank you. I have also been articulating my pain, and my joy and other feelings in between, since fall through getting back to drawing and writing via two classes. And although I grieve the loss of my godmother 💔 last summer who was very much a second mother to me in this life, it’s been healing and joyful working on my art to express all that she gave to me and the blessing of her presence through art.

So keep it up, internet friend! 👏
